Kali Devi Temple

The Kali Devi Temple, Patiala is located on the Mall Road, Patiala, nearby the famous Baradari Garden. This is a renowned temple, dedicated to Goddess Durga or Kali Devi.The construction of Kali Devi Temple took place during the reign of Maharaja Bhupinder Singh of Patiala state. A 6ft tall structure of Goddess Kali was brought here by him from Bengal.

This is a grand temple and one of the major attractions of the old Patiala City. A large number of devotees of Goddess Kali visit this temple every year.

This temple is revered by many for its calm surroundings and peace that it has to offer to the devotees. One can witness the traditional Hindu customs and rituals in action at this temple. In particular this temple s known for some f the anachronistic Hindu customs which have died out elsewhere but are followed religiously here.

The sacred sanctorum is dotted with some marvelous pieces of art. Kali Devi Temple has been built magnificently and is rightly dubbed as an architectural wonder. The mural paintings and sceneries add to beauty of the temple. All these factors have resulted in the temple being declared as a national monument.
