Sheetla Mandir Temple

The worship of Sheetla Devi is linked to the protection and cause of small pox. For a goddess she is remarkably practical often shown holding , a broom, water and a fan to keep the germs at bay.

Located near the Balmiki Gate in the centre of Jalandhar, it said to be as old as Jalandhar itself.

Sheetla Mandir, Jalandhar houses a beautiful statue of Goddess Sheetla in a red colored dress, carrying a silver broom, small bowl, a pitcher with holy water from the Ganges and a window fan. A large number of devotees visit this temple especially during the annual fair in August. Within the temple there are also two small old temples of Hanuman and Shiva
